Who angered the snow gods?

Was it me, with my blog title — perhaps they misunderstood? I love snow, but hey … everything in moderation!

IMG_0782 (1)-minIt’s the first day of Spring, which is hard to believe, when it looks like this! We’ve had [have!] a Winter that will make it to the history books, here in Atlantic Canada. More snow coming tomorrow, not as much as they first expected, though. Continue reading “Who angered the snow gods?”

snowmageddon

Yesterday, we ventured out, to have a look at the snow situation and to get some groceries. The Maritimes and the New England states really got walloped. In a ‘normal’ winter, 2,000 truckloads of snow are removed from the city. In the last, three weeks, they’ve removed 20,000+ and they’re in no way finished. They’re not allowed to dump it in the ocean for environmental reasons. This snow dump [in the picture] is right at the edge, though, so it will eventually end up in the ocean anyway.

We didn’t even have to shovel out our car. Somehow the wind direction had made our spot totally clear — we backed right out!

Our snow seems to have been cancelled for today. On the other hand, they’ve upgraded Sunday’s storm to Blizzard. Oh joy!

We’ve got snow! This is a small portion of the snow dump on Tin Can Beach. That’s just from the south part of the city. More to come on Friday … another nor’easter. Oh joy!

dyson_vacuumRight now it’s bitter cold, but we went out to Walmart to buy a new vacuum.

It’s very sleek … right now it’s charging, but I can’t wait to vacuum (!) did I just write that?! LOL

Just Thursday Bloghop ~ What do you like about Winter?

For this week’s bloghop, Mara is asking us «What do you like about Winter?»

To me, Winter means Snow. No snow, no winter. I love the freshly fallen, powdery snow, when it’s about 10 below! However, I don’t like the slushy, dirty type you get in late March/April.

Always loved that special winter light in the late afternoon, but even more so since I started taking photos. It’s something so special about it — even the emerald green of the Mallard’s head gets a different shade.

qc2007:08If I had to shovel, perhaps I’d love Winter a little less. Ahh … the convenience of apartment living! 🙂 I will never forget the Winter of 2007/08, when we were still living in Quebec. I’ve never seen that much snow in my whole life. It started to snow some time in October, and it just never stopped.

Here, a little selection of pictures to illustrate why I love Winter!

What do you like about Winter? Write a blog about it, and post a link in the comments. Check out the others too, perhaps we can get this bloghop going. Next week I’ll be hosting and then Myfanwy over at Nuvofelt.

it’s Christmas Eve

Still early morning. Fog, rain, drizzle … not very Christmassy outside, but here in the apartment we have all the necessary attributes.

My friend sent me a text this morning, with a photo of her backyard in Härnösand, Sweden.

What more could you ask for in order to get into the Christmas spirit?! 🙂

To all my blogging friends; I’m wishing you the best of Christmases … warm, peaceful and filled with all the goodies you love!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
